Equality and Diversity reports
The Foundation Trust commenced the production of regular equality and diversity reporting in 2007. Reports aim to provide statistical information to support the management and promotion of equality and diversity throughout the Foundation Trust. Regular reports are presented to the Foundation Trust’s Equality and Diversity Steering Group and an annual report will also be presented to the Foundation Trust’s Board of Directors.
The Foundation Trust also takes part in the annual Care Quality Commission’s NHS Staff Survey. This provides the Foundation Trust with detailed information on our employees’ views in relation to all aspects of their employment with the Foundation Trust, this information being broken down by age, disability, race and sex.
It is recognised that the Foundation Trust does not have robust equality data for all of the protected groups defined by the Equality Act 2010 and that for some protected groups the collection of such statistical data may not always be practical or useful. The Foundation Trust will therefore be doing further work during 2012, both within the organisation and with external groups, on how best to capture useful qualative and/or quantative information to ensure that the Foundation Trust’s polices and processes are not disadvantaging our patients or our staff.
