Equality and Diversity Steering Group
The Foundation Trust’s Equality and Diversity Steering Group was established in 2008 and is chaired by the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nurse. The Steering Group of Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a continuation from the Steering Group of Basingstoke and North Hampshire NHS Foundation Trust’s Steering Group.
The purpose of the Steering Group is to monitor the Foundation Trust’s performance in relation to equality and diversity. This means monitoring its performance in creating an organisation where healthcare provision is accessible, responsive and appropriate to people, irrespective of their protected characteristics (as defined by the Equality Act 2010) and where all Foundation Trust employees can fully contribute, develop and flourish at work, irrespective of their protected characteristics.
The Group does not have the accountability for achieving equality and diversity performance. Individual accountabilities rest with the Foundation Trust’s executive directors and senior managers, and collective accountability with the Foundation Trust’s Divisional Boards and Executive Committee.
